Brannock approaches a cottage which has at it's doorstep what appears to be a dog. On second glance it is actually a tamed wolf which regards the pair wearily. Brannock approaches and gives it a solemn pat, feeding it a non-questionable ration. It begins to wag it's tail as Brannock strokes its fur.

Gerrant suggests they should head back. Brannock doesn't break his gaze away from the wolf as he says he can't, and that he's let everybody down.

Gerrant has no idea how to deal with this.

Brannock tells Gerrant "I think you and I need to do some soul-searching."

Gerrant is once again confused. "Where does one search for a soul?" Brannock lets out a world-weary sigh. "Usually in the places where it could have been lost. Have you ever been to the mountains up north?"

"No"

"Today has taught me that life can be taken from you at the drop of a hat, and if you want to do something you should probably do it before you're unable to. Tyrus was basically the only reason I was hanging around, if you'd like to come with me you're welcome to."

At this time you they are joined by Samel who doesn't look to be in the best of spirits, and is engaged in conversation by the dwarf.

"Oh, friends I hadn't expected to see you here."

"Is this your house?"

"Yes, I see you've met Geoffrey", indicating the wolf.

"Do you have a family, Samel?"

Samel informs them that he had little in the way of family in the town before his wilderness-going family were slaughtered by Otayu's, which he hunted down.

"How attached are you to this place?"

"I feel it's time to see more of the world."

"Ever been to the mountains? I wouldn't object to travelling with a man like you."

Samel advises that it occurred to him that the Druid might be able to provide Reincarnation. He offers to send a message to Ulfgar telling him to take Tyrus' cadaver there instead.

"RETURN THE CLERICS BODY TO THE LIZARD DRUID INSTEAD. Brannock, Gerrant AND I SHAN'T BE THERE. INSTEAD SOUL-SEARCHING. Samel AIDIADIQ."

Meanwhile Sero picks up Brutus' warhammer and checks it out. The head is cracked and pitted, looking somewhat moist, the rest is jet-black.

Sero hands the hammer to Juxhil and picks up one of the Maroon Potions.

Ulfgar is overtaken mid-air by an eagle carrying the message from Samel. He turns Bhetsy around.

Samel, Brannock & Gerrant head towards the mountains.

Sero is playing patty-cake with Juxhil when Ulfgar turns up on Bhetsy with Tyrus.

"Ah Ulfgar, Juxhil has a hammer for you.""

"Where did the others go?"

"Well, Brannock ran off crying and Gerrant followed him with an axe. You can have the hammer! I have some potions, wanna drink one? I'll drink one if you'll drink one."

"If we drink these you'll help me?"

They agree and imbibe. They're both healed.

Ulfgar shows first Juxhil, then Sero the note, which they read. He then asks Sero "Did you get everything of value?"

"There's a pile of stuff there."

"Help me load it onto the spider-eater, I've heard that rituals like this can be expensive."

They pile the bodies, putting equipment on the Spider-Eater and start to travel to the Lizardfolk Camp, through the swamp.

The camp greets you, much more crowded than before and filled with both branded and unbranded Lizardfolk. They part ways for Sero, Ulfgar slings the warhammer over his shoulder, not wanting to be left out.

The most impressive looking tent holds Alkathix and a number of Lizardfolk.

A: I trust the fight went well!

U: Iiin some respects. Brutus is dead. (Smacks the hammer to the ground, which hisses).

U: I received a message telling me to come here with our friend.

Alkathix advises that she can indeed Reincarnate for the fee of 1000GP which will cover the special sacred oils and ungents. She does mention that the dragon is not taken care of.

U: I'll add it to my list of Things To Fuck. What do you need from us?

She advises she needs to rest, and will prepare the spell in the morning. Ulfgar drags Tyrus' leaking body from the Spider-eater.

U: I'm not sure I feel comfortable making this decision about his death and re-life.

S: Just talk it through with him once he comes back as a half-orc.

U: I think we'll leave it to his god.

He produces a coin and flips it, Sero calls "Heads" and it is indeed Heads, so Reincarnation it is.

U: When we have rested I will mount the head of this monstrous beast and burn the body, leaving nothing of him but trophies. Do you have a place for us to rest?

Ulfgar produces the 1000GP fee himself.

Sero sits outside the tent and begins to play to pass the time. Bob Marley. Hours later Ulfgar emerges and appears to meditate.

Some hours later, a pair of figures emerge from the swamp in the direction of Pithfield. One is a VERY grizzled looking wild individual, really tall for a man, wearing a hooded cloak with a huge sword strapped to his back.

The other figure is also very tall 6'1", possibly one of the most attractive elves you've seen in your life. Long silver, slicked back hair, tanned skin etc. Next to the barbarian he looks like the most graceful creature in the world. They make their way to the tent, as they get closer to Sero the large fighter says "You're not a bad player there lass".

S: You're not bad yourself sweetie, who's your friend? Fighter laughs like Ken Downsborough and "My apologies friend, your features are somewhat feminine." He indicates the elf. "This, is Charles. He's quite nice."

Juxhil emerges from the tent.

C looks down at Sero "Young man, you couldn't handle this."

Fighter sees Juxhil "Lizardfolk, we've heard tell of a Dragon in these parts"

S: She's not with them, she's with me.

Fighter: Sorry, we've been told there are Lizardfolk, and all we've seen are him, and you.

S: So why are you here?

Fighter: We've heard there's a Dragon, is that true?

Elf: You've got to love them though.

S: Oh yeah, he killed my friend.

Fighter: Condolences.

Elf: Is the Dragon okay?

Fighter thumps chest and says "I am Kahaan Uthroe. May I share your tent and your mead?

S: I don't have any mead, but you can share my Kobold if I can share yours.

K: You told me these Southerners were strange, I'm sorry I doubted you.

Sero asks Kahaan about himself.

K: From the North, FAR North, beyond the frozen wastes.

Ulfgar exits wearing only a dwarven underkilt with both warhammers over his shoulders. He looks at the newcomers and then at Juxhil, asks her about them. "They're terrible"

U: Better or worse than Sero?

J: Give it time.

S: Come pull up a warhammer, this is KAHAAN! We're just getting to know each other.

K observes the warhammer and says "That is a mighty weapon you wield"

U: It is not mine, but I thank you. And you?

Charles Emery reaches down, offering his hand from horseback "Charles Emery"

K: I come asking your friend tales of a Dragon in these parts.

U: I'm afraid the Dragon in these parts has been claimed.

C: Oh you haven't killed him have you?

K: Surely you wouldn't mind me joining the hunt?

Juxhil draws Ulfgar aside: Pssst. We don't have a meat shield.

U: I suppose you can join us, but you must understand I have a personal vendetta. It proffered a challenge, it accepted and then ran. I will not have this challenge go un-met. If you get in the way of my revenge, you will take the place of the Dragon.

K *feral grin*: Revenge, aye.

C: So, Ulfgar...

K: Get off the horse Charles!

C: Who is the dead guy?

U: The "dead guy" as you call him, is a close companion of ours, a Cleric by the name of Tyrus. He put everything on the line for us more than once. That's about all I feel needs saying at the moment.

Charles dismounts, advising "admirable".

U: I apologise for my friend.

C: On the contrary, do you know how many people want to be me? It's quite ridiculous!

Sero casts Disguise Self and takes the guise of Charles, attempting to mimic all of his talking.

U: So do you hunt dragons in particular?

K: I don't do much in particular. I try to go where life takes me, and take pleasure from life where I can.

C: I'm sorry, I come on strong sometimes but I've lost people also. As such if you insist on risking your life, I would happily help you. I have skills (brandishes hand-crossbow).

Sero plays badly, then transforms into himself and plays well.

K: Is he always like this?

U: Not always

Jux: I can confirm he's not ALWAYS like this.

K: Maybe it's an elf thing.

Ulfgar goes off to sell stuff while Charles talks his way into the hut of a Lizardfolk woman.

Kahaan heads into the swamp for approx 10 minutes.

Tyrus comes to in a strange tent, in a strange body with what appears to be a copy of his body in a mangled mess beside him. Alklathix would provide you with clothing and armour and after a short discussion leads him out into the opening.

U: Greetings Tyrus! How do you feel? T: I... I'm not sure. *faints* I'm sorry, I've been somewhat overcome. Ulfgar fills Tyrus in. T: What about Imthaikalus. U: Next on the list of things is finishing off that scaly bastard.

Tyrus asks about the expense and Ulfgar tells him not to worry, but at some point we need to deal with such things. Brannock was looking truly wracked with guilt and pain when he left, I'm not sure if we are to expect his return. As for Gerrant... well he followed Brannock I guess. I do not know if we can contact them...

He introduces Tyrus to the newcomers.

Tyrus spends some time communing with Nephe to prepare his spells. While he does this Ulfgar goes looking for potions to buy.

Warhammer Moderate Evocation Shield Faint Abjuration +1 Plate Faint Abjuration +1 Bow is non-magical

U: Also our human friend looks to be a fighter of some kind and the Elf looks useless.

Sense motive told Tyrus nothing particular about newcomers.

Tyrus keeps the armor, Kahaan takes the +1 Composite Longsword and gives his old Longbow to Charles.

They head off, it's a nice day in the swamp and reach once again what appears to have once been a huge gate which is now a set of pillars around midday.

There is no sign of any other Lizardfolk around, you can see further ahead some more ruined structures which we'd need to move closer to to get a better look.

Signs of recent habitation of the camp are very apparent, dominated by ancient structures and land that has been retaken by the swamp. There is one dominating structure a few hundred meters further inside, the whole front of some kind of Cathedral, though the rest of the structure appears to be missing. There are two lizardfolk standing in front of the doorway.

One has a battleaxe, one has a trident.

They look around at each other, questioning.

Charles is attempting to sneak up on them and get the lay of the land.

Lots of fighting, coup de gras one downed opponent while Tyrus stabilised the other and chained/manacled him up.
