As Ulfgar and Kahaan step up and survey the trash heap it smells pretty fucking awful.
A ring of tiles surrounds a 10' lower area filled with piles of trash. As they get closer some of the trash starts to move towards them. Debris cascades from the Otyugh as it emerges from the heap and it whips a tentacle at Ulfgar before they can react.
Ulfgar gets smacked, grappled and squeezed down to 4 HP.
Kahaan reacts, rolling a 17 to hit in a sunder attempt on the tentacle holding Ulfgar but failed.
Tyrus stepped forward, between Otto the Otyugh and Ulfgar, casting Cure Moderate Wounds for 21 HP (leaving him with only 2 damage).
Charles steps out of the corridor and scoots to the side, firing but missing.
The Otyugh drags Ulfgar and Kahaan closer starting to move away. As it does, another Otyugh (Ozzy) appears behind a pile of trash.
Ulfgar tries to escape the grapple and fails.
Sero casts Grease on Kahaan to give him a bonus to get out of the grapple and Kahaan takes full advantage to slip out, shooting up into the air and slashing down at the monster with 17, which rebounds from its putrid hide.
Tyrus realizes that Otyugh speak common and are pretty straightforward omnivorous creatures, if they have a place to live and a place to eat they won't get all attacky.
Tyrus yells "Wait, there is no need for this! We have food for you gentle sir Otyugh!" and the eyestalks swivel towards Tyrus.
Charles "The man is right you know, that dwarf is dirty and the barbarian hasn't bathed in weeks! We have fresh crocodile just in the next room!"
Otto takes a step backwards with Ulfgar but doesn't hurt him, holding him up like the bargaining chip he is and says in an extremely gutteral deep voice "Lizard wants you dead."
Ulfgar "Which Lizard?"
Ulfgar is turned to face the eyestalk as Otto responds "Big Lizard"
"We killed the big lizard!"
Otto clarifies, with additional emphasis.
"BIG Lizard!"
Charles "Doesn't the Dragon cut into your food supply? You could eat like kings in your own stone kingdom!"
Otto says "We get food..." while Ozzy moves up next to him.
Kahaan "What kind of food?"
Otto "Meat from the little lizards."
Kahaan says "If you wait here we can get you more food that is better than this"
Otto seems to consider this a moment, then responds "Be quick"
Kahaan runs off into the previous room to get a crocodile corpse and drags it back in hoisting it up and saying "There are more of these"
Ozzy clambers past the others and squeezes down the corridor, standing for a moment in seeming mute contemplation of the pool. Ozzy then comes back with one of the crocodiles it has fished out of the water, grabbing the one Kahaan offers as it goes past as well. Otto unceremoniously drops Ulfgar, they say "Leave the food" and bed down in the trash heap to eat.
Kahaan and Ulfgar noticed many copper coins in the trash heaps while they were down there.
They all start to make their way around the ledge around the room, finding a corridor heading down about 50ft of broken stairs which they make their way down to open out into a chamber.
There is a raised platform with stairs leading up to it on either side, with some kind of ruined statue fallen onto the fancy stonework of the platform. No-one is quite sure exactly what it's trying to depict. Kahaan heads up the stairs followed by Tyrus, and they see the back wall of the room.
Ulfgar gets an arrow, casts Light on it and gets Kahaan to fire it straight up at the room. It streaks up into the darkness throwing shadows about as it passes various supports and columns, then suddenly it disappears. Sniggering is heard.
Tyrus moves away from the others towards the back wall of the room and prepares to cast Ring of Blades if the Dragon takes action.
Kahaan calls out and asks who is up there.
Imthaikalus calls down "Ah, so you decided to follow me here"
Ulfgar sneers "Oh, the false god".
Imthaikalus replies mockingly "It's terrible that you feel that way."
Kahaan brandishes his sword and asks Ulfgar "Is it going to come down and fight?"
Imthaikalus "I will now."
The room is plunged into darkness that allows some small amount of vision, which Tyrus and Ulfgar recognise as a form of the spell Darkness. Tyrus completes casting Ring of Blades and can barely make out the spinning shards of metal surrounding him.
Tyrus, having no idea where Imthaikalus is, casts Shield of Faith on himself and bides his time.
Sero, Ulfgar & Kahaan hear something drop down and have an idea where the sound came from.
Tyrus rolls a reflex save... and takes 11 of the 31 Acid Damage thanks to his Resistance to Acid.
Kahaan moves in the direction of the sound, calling out "If and when you've finished cowering under your blankets, I welcome you to come over here and talk this out with me." He calls to Ulfgar "Did you really have trouble with this pussy?"
A figure moves past Tyrus in the dark, after a tense moment he realizes it is Juxhil moving to the wall.
Sero pulls out his lute and starts playing "That's why I like Reptilian girls"
Charles bides his time, moving back to the doorway and letting out a low whistle to give the others a bearing on the doorway.
Ulfgar asks Mr Sniffles if he knows where the dragon is.
Everyone hears the sound of a whistle.
Tyrus moves towards the front of the statue, finding Ulfgar and putting Sanctuary on him.
Ulfgar sees the Dragon appear and yells "On me! To the north! Help!" and takes 10 damage from a bite.
Kahaan moves in the direction of the cries and comes across Ulfgar and Tyrus, diving between the two and finding himself directly in front of the wyrm, taking a bite attack from it for his trouble. He takes a swing with his axe but it glances off the scaly hide.
Juxhil casts True Strike and continues to hide in the shadows.
Sero moves in the direction of the noise and spots the Dragon. He attempts to cast Grease defensively but fails his concentration check and the spell is wasted. Similarly, Ulfgar tries to cast Scorching Ray but fails the concentration check to cast defensively and the spell is wasted.
Kahaan having stopped next to Tyrus takes damage from the spinning blades as Tyrus steps forward and spots the Dragon, casting Assay Spell Resistance to improve his chances of successfully casting against it.
Ulfgar yells "AH FUCK! We've formed a line"
The dragon steps away from Tyrus and a savage bite leaves Ulfgar badly wounded. It also lashes out at Sero with slashing claws and tail, knocking him unconscious.
Kahaan throws his axe in the direction of the Dragon, hearing it bounce off something and draws his bow to loose an arrow in the same direction.
Juxhil makes a solid hit with her crossbow, wounding the dragon somewhat.
Sero gurgles, coughing up blood and slipping closer to death.
Ulfgar moves away from Tyrus to use his Belt Of Contingent Healing on Sero, shocking him into consciousness again. He also calls out to Kahaan "Things are going badly, we could use your help with the Dragon, Sero is doing badly!"
Kahaan "Where's the dragon?"
"On the platform North of the stairs, approximately 20 feet north of my position"
They hear Charles whistling once again from the entrance to the room.
Tyrus heals Sero almost up to full and then steps up to the opposite side of the Dragon. It takes off immediately and though he takes the opportunity to attack he swings wide in the gloom.
Kahaan runs up to the area the Dragon was in, finding it gone. He grabs Sero by the scruff of his neck and drags him towards the wall yelling "This is getting tiresome!"
Juxhil shoots and misses.
Ulfgar calls out to Tyrus "Hold up, I think I've got it!"
Tyrus "What do you have!?"
Ulfgar "Just let me get to it and I'll fix it! There's an arrow over here, light went up, dark came down, I think I have it!"
Sero stands himself up from his prone position and Kahaan suggests he gets up against the wall.
Ulfgar clambers up onto the platform and runs to the arrow, throwing himself onto it and yells "I've broken it!", bluffing like a madman. This causes Imthaikalus to look down at him incredulously and scream "What!?"
Tyrus looks up at the now-visible Dragon hovering 60ft almost directly above him and yells "Just let me get out my wand! Target acquired!"
A fireball streaks from Ulfgar's hands and hits the Dragon (who takes no damage due to his Spell Resistance) moments before Charles takes a shot at it also and the bolt careens off the scaly black hide just as Tyrus reaches into his Handy Haversack...
