UGLY RAW NOTES

Head into another room and find some coinage and jewellery in ruined cabinets.

Appears to be a golden pearl (estimage 80gp), Carnelian (estimate 40gp) (reddish semi-precious gemstone) and a bracelet of gemstones (estimate 40gp).

While loading up this stuff Obankot investigates one of the doorways blocked by rubble to see if he can get in. The others generally say it's best not to open anything we don't have to right now, to explore open entryways first.

They head downstairs and find two more caved-in doors and one that remains unblocked, which Brannock opens once Obankot assures him it looks okay. It opens out into a room that is a little larger than the staircase surrounds which appears mostly unremarkable.

As they head into the door they notice violent, irregular thumping coming from the western door.

As Tyrus suggests Obankot sneaks up to check out the corridor around the corner the thumping stops, then they hear a shambling sound and a Wraith bursts forth from the other side of the stairs towards Brannock and Ulfgar where they stand near the door.

Brannock swings his borrowed greatsword at the apparation and slashes at it twice in quick succession, tearing at it's being, evoking the shadow of a scream from his opponent.

Obankot looses arrows at the creature, sending swirls of shadow peeling off the creature as Tyrus summons Duke Stickington who is sadly ineffective. Ulfgar takes a step away from the Wraith and swings mightily with his longhammer.

A zombie shambles out of the darkness to claw at Mammut and is gored for it's trouble, joined by Rustwashed skeletons and a couple wielding bows who take potshots at Obankot.

The Wraith withdraws into the stairwell and Brannock turns his ire against one of the zombies that has shambled up next to Tyrus, bisecting it with one mighty swing and backing up with a wary eye at the wall he expects the Wraith might emerge from.

Obankot feathers the zombie which tried to grab Mammut and finishes it, directing his final arrow at one of the Rustwashed skeletons.

Tyrus casts Owl's Wisdom as Duke Stickington continues to be ineffective.

As one of the Rustwashed moves up to Ulfgar he swings mightily with his hammer twice but misses each time as the foul creature reaches out to flake away his breastplate. (-4 AC).

The skeletal archers step along the far wall to gain a better angle on shots against Obankot, two arrows thumping into his armor. The Wraith chooses this moment to emerge from the wall next to Ulfgar and swipes at the dwarf, draining his very life-force.

Duke Stickington trips the Rustwashed skeleton attacking Mammut and slams into it again, as the cleric lays a hand on Brannock's shoulder and entreating Nephe to be with him. (Guidance)

Ulfgar takes a 5 foot step away from the Wraith and blasts it with his Scorching Ray, finally ending it's reign of terror. As the Skeleton stands itself up Mammut punishes it for the descision. Two more arrows thump into Obankot as Brannock charges over to the zombie next to Mammut and tears through it's body with the greatsword.

Obankot steps up and takes deadly aim at his skeletal opponents, shattering one skull and severely damaging another as Mammut stomps the skull of the Rustwashed skeleton on the ground in front of him.

Tyrus re-directs Stickington's efforts and steps forward, closing some of the distance while brandishing his morningstar.

Both skeletons drop their bows and draw longswords, slashing at the dwarf and the mammoth.

Brannock steps up to slash at the healthiest Skeleton but fails to hit.

Obankot and Mammut have a similarly uneventful turn, while Tyrus steps up to cast Cure Light Wounds on the healthiest looking skeleton, causing it to gnash it's teeth at him. Ulfgar swings wildly at the same creature, but misses.

Mammut finishes one of the archers and Stickington finishes the other.

Obankot scouts around and finds that the large doors behind the stairs probably have a matching set on the other side. They follow through another set of doors opposite these and find a roughly-hewn tunnel carved into the solid stone on the other side.

The tunnel seems to have been machined roughly, it's unclear whether it was an addition but seems to go quite far.

They decide to clear other smaller doors before investigating the tunnel. The first room they come to has a couple of sets of exotic saddles. Possibly suitable to large sized creatures.

The next door is blocked on the opposite side, so they try the other, forcing it open.

They return to the blockaded door and try to force it to no avail, so Brannock sets at it with his axe and eventually splinters away at the door. When it finally cracks there is a large pile of debris on the other side and he triggers a makeshift trap that splashes a liquid onto him which does no harm. As he shifts some of the rubble he gets further doused to no effect, and hears a language he does not understand.

He sees a hobgoblin wielding a hammer and another vial of (probably holy water). It says more in goblin, then in common "You... you killed the dead ones?"

Brannock: "Aye. How long you been in here for?" The Hobgoblin looks to be in the peak of health.

The hobgoblin drops to it's knees in relief.

Brannock: Do you have a name?

Hobgoblin: My name is Korfal.

Brannock offers something to eat.
