History

Hakatim is widely thought to have come into being at the beginning of the first age, with the rest of the primal gods. At this time he brought into being the might race of dragons. Later, he created and instructed the race of orcs.

Hakatim is widely known to be at odds with the goddess Eshnil, whose tendency towards subversive action rather than direct confrontation Hakatim finds at best irritating and at worst abhorrent.

Appearance

Hakatim has had many depictions over the ages. The oldest known show him as some kind of mighty dragon lord, and more recent ones as a huge orc wielding an equally impressive greatsword, or a dwarf with a warhammer. He is associated with the colour red.

Worship

Hakatim's worship is in ways very uniform across many different worshipers. Fire is of course common for various rituals and communion, but worship of Hakatim is primarily through competition: from martial pursuits like sparring, or feats of athleticism, to more cerebral pursuits like chess, and even to those as mundane as drinking contests or arm wrestling. Clearly marked rules and boundaries pervade these - fights might be friendly or to-the-death, but this will be clearly outlined beforehand. In fact, fights to the death tend to be frowned upon due to the intrinsic denial of self-betterment so important to Hakatim's philosophy.

Temples to Hakatim, it follows, are often also great arenas or complexes. They also feature a number of donated or acquired trophies. The most well known of these is the holy city of Zossest, built on top of an active volcano.

Hakatim finds many worshipers: fighters and athletes of all kinds are common, but many spellcasters are also drawn to his valuing of raw power in any form.

Minutiae

One religious greeting of Hakatim is "Klak Shaddock", usually said along with a bashing of the shield or a fist to the chest if unarmed.

Hakatim is credited as the creator of the following Artifacts. Hakatim's Fire
