The Better Part Of Valour

Obankot gestures down that there are two gnolls south of him but

Tyrus gestures to Obankot telling him to come down, he fails to convey the message and Obankot heads towards the dead Gnoll in ceremonial robes as the others stand below not knowing what to do (or lacking the motivation to do anything unbidden).

Obankot spots a couple of holes in the door that is set in the wall as he starts pulling his rope from his pack. Everyone moves into position below Obankot as he secures the rope to the beams above and Brannock climbs up first while Ulfgar goes up using the slippers Obankot drops down. Korfal and Tyrus each do the same respectively.

FAVOUR POINT GET! Eshnil approves.

Tyrus suggests that Obankot check the door while Tyrus checks the body. He finds 3 vials of Alchemists Fire and a Tanglefoot Bag, plus a wand with some kind of Evocation enchantment which he is unable to identify. Obankot is likewise unable to identify the wand and so Tyrus hands it to Ulfgar and asks if he knows what it is. Ulfgar responds "Yes. Such a thing is an instrument of Magical Artifice to replicate the spell Burning Hands."

Onward and Upward

Obankot can't see anything except a distant shaft of light illuminating an area to the south, though he can hear low growls which he assume are coming from Gnolls.

Korfal looks and advises there are 3 Gnolls in a group approx 30 feet away.

They come up with a plan to have Tyrus open the door, Obankot fire away and Brannock & Ulfgar to charge in and mop up.

Tyrus yanks back the door and as the Gnolls turn to gape at the doorway Obankot looses 4 arrows in quick succession, killing two of the Gnolls. Ulfgar charges in and casts Burning Hands via the wand, immolating the remaining Gnoll.

As they all move into the room they hear yipping from across the divide in the middle of the tower, and as Obankot steps into a hole in the wall to look across, he sees several Gnolls across the other side of said divide hunkered down behind barricades.

Obankot says "I've found the Gnolls" as he stands in the hole emitting light, which prompts Tyrus to extinguish the light "I've lost the Gnolls."

They discuss a plan to open fire across the divide, while Korfal checks down around the corner and reports that it is a dead end.

Operation Holes n' Fire

Obankot kills two of the Gnolls hunkered down behind the barricades, with Ulfgar taking out another which seems to mobilise the others. They start hustling along the boards bridging the gap as Obankot opens fire again, sending another Gnoll spinning down into the blackness. Korfal heads out onto the planks and scuffles with one of the Gnolls, drawing his short-sword and sending the Gnoll reeling back.

Tyrus asks how things are going while nervously peeking out the door the way they came.

Ulfgar steps out onto the boards and but slips and falls, only just managing to grab hold of the board and prevent himself from plummeting to the ground where he sees Gnolls congretating around the body of their fallen brethren. Obankot informs Tyrus that it **was** going well as he lunges out onto the board, snapshotting the Gnoll in combat with Korfal and kneeling to assist the dangling dwarf.

As this newest corpse plummets to the ground and hits one of the spectators, the group below panicks and they begin fleeing down the stairs.

Ulfgar clamps his hand around Obankot's and with a mighty heave pulls himself up onto the planks again.

As there appear to be no further Gnolls the group makes their way across the boards, and as they are stepping onto the stone floor of the opposite side a large Gnoll wielding a battle-axe takes a swing at Obankot, knocking the elf back. Korfal dodges around the staggered elf, taking up a position to attack the Gnoll.

Ulfgar gingerly edges forward, intoning an eldritch ritual as he steps onto the stonework and unleashing Magic Missiles which slam into the Gnoll warrior.

Tyrus steps onto a side-beam and invokes the Power of Nephe (Prayer), which allows Brannock to hustle forward onto solid ground as Obankot steps back and looses a flurry of arrows at his attacker. The dog-man snarls and closes the space between them swinging his savage axe again, grazing the elf and blocking two swift attacks from Ulfgar.

Brannock steps up to the wounded gnoll and whips out his axe, slamming it into the side of the creature and taking it down.
