Obankot continues to walk around the side of the tower, using his signal whistle to summon Mammut.
Tyrus calls Duke Stickington back and holds out his arms, beseeching Ulfgar. "Ulfgar. There is no need for this madness! I only wish to deliver that accursed gauntlet to the strange being below, and free you!" then intoning what may be the final prayer he makes to his god he casts a spell.
Ulfgar "If that is truly your wish then do not interfere." and moves past Tyrus, heading down the stairs.
Downstairs, the ogre begins lumbering towards Brannock, reaching the top of the stairs he is standing next to. Brannock responds by jumping down onto a lower section of the stairway and heading towards the doors leading outside as Obankot continues down the wall.
Tyrus and Ulfgar continue down the corridors of the tower, Ulfgar at a far greater pace.
Obankot moves further down the tower and casts Entangle, which doesn't slow Brannock. Unfortunately the Ogre isn't slowed significantly as it squeezes through the door either, but it struggles to make any progress through the overgrowth. Brannock takes advantage of this to mount up on Bhetsy. The combination of inconveniences leads to the Ogre disengaging and struggling through the grasping fauna to move to the south away from the dwarf.
Meanwhile Tyrus has been using charges from his Belt of Contingent Healing and making his way after Ulfgar.
Obankot grabs the arm with gauntlet attached and tucks it into Mammut's saddlebag, instructing the mammoth to run off to the caravan.
Meanwhile Ulfgar tries balancing across the beams 60ft above the floor of the chamber...
The good news is he reaches the bottom.
The bad news is he takes a whopping 9 lethal damage.
Meanwhile Brannock & Bhetsy charge after Mammut, the spider-eater lashing out and catching the fleeing beast with a pincer. The dwarf and spidereater lash out again and again, damaging the panicked mammoth as it struggles in vain to outrun them.
Obankot clambers to his feet and across the broken ground, calling out to Brannock and asking "Woah woah woah, why are you attacking Mammut now?"
As Tyrus races down the stairs, Ulfgar stands up and dusts himself off, drawing a potion of Cure Light Wounds.
Outside, Brannock charges towards Mammut astride Bhetsy and with a mighty swing of his axe takes the mammoth down. He responds to Obankot's question "I'm retrieving a gauntlet."
Meanwhile Tyrus dives down the 60ft fall to the 1st level above ground in a crashing clatter of equipment in front of the dwarf Magus and they both race down the stairs.
Outside, Brannock reaches down to retrieve the gauntlet from Mammut's unconcious form. He places it onto his hand. It is very mysterious!
He mounts Bhetsy and commands the Spider-eater to ascend as fast as she can.
Obankot feeds Mammut a potion of Cure Light Wounds and commands him to run back to the caravan.
Tyrus bursts through the doors and seeing Bhetsy braced for flight races towards the spider-eater, yelling for Brannock to stop.
Ulfgar comes running out and says "Brannock, do you have the gauntlet?"
Brannock responds by raising his fist, setting the gauntlet gleaming in the light, before saying "I must take the Gauntlet downstairs now.", dismounting and walking calmly towards the doorway.
They continue through the tunnels below the tower back to the dark sphere of worked stone and its hobgoblin guards.
Brannock reaches out to trace shapes on the smooth curved stone with a familiarity that doesn't make sense. The surface begins to light up with glowing blue indentations and lines, glyphs appearing and moving across the surface. It becomes clear that the surface is actually rotating, then a single blue line splits it down the middle and it opens clamshell style to reveal a circular room with a raised dias in the middle.
Brannock says "Right. I suppose we should sleep now, before we head onwards."
Ulfgar similarly closes his eyes, leaving the other party members standing awkwardly above the unconscious dwarves. Obankot sneaks up the tower to retrieve his bow and hopefully Korfal.
