The Assassination

As may be seen above, the game did not begin in The Hunted's favor. Casters moving in, incapacitating Tharin and Kul'Theras, and Garrett himself having slit Magni's throat - the man then following up by demanding the immediate surrender of the party.

Landra is the first to respond to the demand, by trying to shoot the man's legs out from under him. This is extremely successful, a critical hit resulting in almost 160 points of damage, knocking the man over and almost killing him, before falling back to those trapped by the black tentacles.

Magni seizes the opportunity and slays Garret with his greatsword - but not before accidentally critting himself with the same weapon, leaving him low on health and still bleeding out.

With Tharin and Kul'Theras unable to escape, it leaves the Hand to finish all but one of the sailors - the last one fleeing down the corridor ahead. Kul'theras is asked by his captor "Had enough? Or do you still want to play?" to which he responds "Set me down and we can both survive."

One of the remaining clerics (still at full health and only one spell seen to have been cast) says "Enough! The Raiders are clearly finished" - and while they move to positions, they do not attack.

Landra says to the unseen Wyrick "Now would be an excellent time to help" - but upon seeing that there was no feasible way of rescuing Kul'Theras and Tharin without contending with the tentacles herself, she instead put away her rifle, drawing a cure moderate wounds potion and remarking "There is no need for further fighting - all of us can walk away from this." before shouting "Do not attack the casters!"

Magni, upon hearing this (and after having healed himself with a potion) instead goes careening after the remaining pirate.

The Hand of Kali falls into a defensive position but does not move to attack, after which the caster with the tentacles dismisses them, then moves past Kul'theras to kneel beside Tharin's unconscious form, and appears to heal him (though this does not return him to consciousness).

Kul'theras weighs up his options and on making a decision his bowstring hums as he lets three arrows fly, the two which find their target at the top of the kneeling figure's spine disintegrating on impact. The man whirls on the elf in a rage, clamping his hands over the wide-brimmed hat he wears and sending electricity arcing wildly through his skull, knocking the shocked elf unconscious immediately.

Landra and the caster have a terse discussion as to whether the caster should kill her elven companion, eventually realizing her own elven ancestry and concluding that the pair are intimate. He is convinced to leave without further conflict and does so.

Landra administers healing to Kul'theras, knocking him out again once he is conscious.

Magni decides it is prudent to remove all weapons from his unconscious comrade, in the interests of keeping the options for violence down to a minimum. Kul'theras does not appreciate this on waking up, and he and Landra argue about what he appears to perceive as an unprovoked attack, and she appears to perceive as reasonable punitive measures.

They investigate the caves, unearthing a variety of items documented here.

Wyrick shows them the way to the secluded harbour and Tharin expresses gratitude, also believing (more correctly than he might think) that Wyrick was instrumental in his survival and offering to pay the man. Wyrick rather awkwardly suggests that perhaps gold could be forgone, in exchange for his freedom rather than return to Sever Oeaga Treandra in Madrill.

Tharin suggests that perhaps both could be arranged, and while he discusses this with the rest of The Hunted Wyrick makes his way onto the ship to disable traps that he knows to be in place and to make it ready to sail.

Loot The Bodies

The Hand of Kali gathered a variety of items from the deceased before forming a pyre out of them. However The Hunted have not been informed as to what Garrett himself had on him.
