Raised Eyebrows

The Hand of Kali looked at Tharin, one eyebrow cocked in a speculative manner...

Tharin agrees to give the amulet to the Hand of Kali to try.

While they get some distance between themselves and the Terraken, Magni asks "Can't some priest types say special words which can make it just sit still?". The others are unsure about this.

Tharin levitates into the air and drops the amulet down to the Hand of Kali, and she is able to control the Terraken wihtout issue. Magni suggests it's a good thing to leave it with the person who doesn't need to sleep at all. Tharin floats down and asks if she's finished and ready to give it back. The Hand of Kali hands it back without complaint.

Magni suggests telling it to just wait, the Hand of Kali says that won't work. Landra recalls what Pelastour said about the almost-mindless aspect; that the oubliette worked because the creature lacked the sentience to motivate it to escape by climbing the walls, where the flooded oubliette would lead to it exploring and eventually smashing its way out and into Chimera Cove.

Tharin suggests getting it to dig a hole and sit in it, waiting. The Hand of Kali suggests an illusion over the top should be sufficient to prevent observation.

the Hand of Kali suggests that Pelastour is likely watching them as they discuss the issue, and that he would try to find others to seal it away, given that The Hunted have diverged from his plan to keep it trapped. Tharin asserts that Pelastour was a dreadful liar, and probably lied about wanting to protect the world from the creature. Magni says he understands the motivation for lying about the short cut, but sees no reason to think he lied about wanting the Terraken imprisoned.

Magni suggests giving the village the amulet to keep the Terraken safe. They seem serious about keeping it locked away, and could use it to defend themselves if necessary.

Landra is a fan of digging the hole, leaving it there and returning when business in Diamondgate is complete. She thinks Poltur is likely long gone.

Tharin is adamant that he doesn't want to risk the confiscation of the creature by Sever.

It is suggested that they return most of the way to Madrill and secure the Terraken somewhere on the way.

Landra suggests they all see the Magistrate, Tharin insists that they must keep the Terraken away and that the amulet-bearer must not attend with the Magistrate. It is suggested two should stay with it, assuming one would be Tharin and he requests the Hand of Kali join him. Magni suggests Tharin should be there to bargain with Sever, while Tharin says Landra could handle it and suggests they adjourn their conversation to the ship.

Magni: Dwarf, Barbarian, Diplomat

Magni approaches the village and tells Targas that they want to move past the village but mean no harm, and the two come to the agreement that they will stick to the shore as they walk past, and keep the Terraken far out into the cove. When Targas asks Magni why they are doing bad things, Magni explains that they don't know how to imprison the creature effectively and so want to take it to Madrill to get help with that. Magni also suggests that if they ever go to Madrill they should go to the Temple of Thor and look for [[Tristopher as he's a good guy. Targas and his cronies seem slightly more confident at the mention of Madrill.

Nobody Likes Sanado

Back at the Terraken Tharin is suggesting that Landra should talk to Sanado, allowing him to hang back with the Terraken. Kul'theras makes a smart comment that this editor does not recall and Tharin seems to be trying to reconcile with the elf when he begins ""I'm sorry Kul'theras, I've been very short with you." but rather quickly loses the thread of this as he spots the Hand of Kali smirking at the unintended double-meaning, making a big deal about her lack of emotion.

Landra is given the amulet to try, with Tharin asking if they are all square now. Landra admits that the gesture does help her to feel more comfortable. Tharin immediately asks when he can have it back.

Magni returns and explains that the villagers are "nervous as fook" and that The Hunted are to skirt the shore and keep the Terraken out int the water as they pass.

On making their way to the cliffs Landra uses her Dragon Pistol to fire a flare while Tharin looks longingly at the amulet around her neck. They discuss what they will do with the Terraken on the way home, and Landra suggests they discuss the method with Captain Sanado in private.

They board and suggest they will talk to Sanado in his cabin, who appears intrigued and agrees. The Hand of Kali asks for rope, Kul'theras offers some. Kul'theras then asks what the Hand of Kali is doing with the rope. The Hand of Kali is evasive, saying she wants to secure important cargo. Kul'theras then insists that the Hand of Kali use different rope, swapping for some Spider-silk rope, then heading to the cabin. The Hand of Kali only pops her head inside asking to borrow a dagger from Magni and then waits outside.

Magni tells Sanado about hobgoblins and bear-men and "other crazy shit", eventually getting to the Terraken, upon which Sanado grows visibly paler. After some further exposition Sanado interrupts to ask if the Terraken is still imprisoned, and on being told no he rushes out of the cabin bellowing orders to get The ResTitution underway. Magni and Landra explain that the creature is under control, that the Hand of Kali has it and it is nearby. Sanado advises his extreme discomfort, then eventually has an idea and starts madly going through the almanacs, journals etc that line the walls. He is eventually able to find a reference to the Chilaxian fleet following the Terraken at a distance of a few miles, which leads The Hunted to agree to having the Terraken kept at a distance of roughly a mile.

Much debate is entered into as to how this will be achieved, it is assumed that the pilot of the Terraken will stay physically with it rather than on-board the ship, and Tharin seems determined to be with it. Sanado eventually leaves them to argue it out.

While they argue, they suddenly hear a thumpthumpthump very similar to that heard when still docked in Madrill but much closer, triangulating it almost instantly to a corner of the Captain's cabin. On examining the area, Magni takes no time at all to bypass the secret latch mechanism which allows a section of the floor to swing up, revealing a cage with a filthy, half-starved goblin captive inside who pleads for freedom and water.

Eventually the goblin advises that its name is Munt, and they soon free him (with some concerns), giving him food and water which he gorges on. After some initial confusion it becomes clear that he was imprisoned by Garret rather than Sanado. Tharin wants Munt to go with him on the Terraken, Magni says no, he's putting his foot down which results in Munt squealing in fear and curling up around Landra's legs begging the dwarf not to stomp him.

Almost as soon as it is agreed that the Hand of Kali will pilot the Terraken, she dons the necklace and steps off the stern of the boat, controlling the Terraken to come and collect her sinking form, following the ship at depth of 100ft and 1 mile back.

I Lie Below, You Float Above

A few hours from Madrill, Magni and Landra take a jolly-boat fire a flare into the darkening sky to get the Hand of Kali's attention. The Hand of Kali surfaces, knocking their boat badly but not doing any damage, stands covered in seaweed as they discuss their plans. The Hand of Kali hands over her Cloak of the Manta Ray and advises she will watch for their return with it, or for two flares fired into the air. Magni and Landra offer to represent her when they talk to the Magistrate and in any voting within the group, and she advises that she wishes to keep the Terraken.

Madrill Hospitality

On docking, Brelt Reys meets the group and blusters his approval as usual, with a couple of cryptic remarks about the function of the armor they gifted to him previously.

They make their way to the temple of Thor and as usual ask to speak to Tristopher Caulken, who cures Kul'theras' pus-caked eyes. Kul'theras makes a generous donation of 200GP to the church by way of payment. They invite Tristopher to come with them when they meet with Sever about the Terraken and he agrees to attend.

Severing Ties?

Sever turns up opulently dressed, it appears that he has interrupted a social event to meet with The Hunted.

The Hunted dance around the idea that they might hand over the Terraken to the Madrill authorities, or they might not. Sever seems legitimately at a loss for some time, asking what he can do to convince them, eventually advising them that he does not intend a threat when he says that refusal to give up the Terraken would almost certainly be interpreted as an act of war. He has asked The Hunted to return before sunset tomorrow as he can only buy them so much time, and he hopes that they will come willing to hand over the war-beast.
