Oh Captain, My Captain

Tharin investigates for magical auras on the ship, finding none. He asks the disembodied voice which was residing in the sphere they brought aboard but now can apparently hear them anywhere in the ship "How does this thing fly?". The voice's response of "Standard A68 drive." is not particularly helpful.

The Hunted discuss whether they can/will keep this ship, given that it doesn't seem to be tied up with any particular owner.

The Hand of Kali suggests finding The Engineer mentioned by T.O.M.A.S. and getting him to disguise the ship as something a little more standard for an airship. Tharin eventually suggests calling L1118585234 "L-One" for short, and it accepts it's new "designation", though is unresponsive to "Lobster Queen" and other such monikers used by Kul'theras.

When Kul'theras asks if L-One has any literature it can provide them with, it flashes up several volumes on the internal screens of the craft, one such sample being what appears to be a Halfling sexual instructional manual akin to a Karma Sutra.

The Hunted conduct a manual search of the ship for the creatures they fought on the Ulysses, finding none.

Why Us?

The Hunted discuss the reasons that the "maggot man" was seeking them, and the following assumptions are mentioned:

  • Tharin to energise the "key".
  • Magni to use the key to open the strange door which led to the Ulysses.
  • Their captor mentioned Kul'theras in connection to a prophecy, but their captor told them that he was no longer concerned with Kul'theras causing any trouble.
  • Landra was apparently his daughter?
  • The Hand of Kali they're really not sure at all.

They ask L-One what happened to their former captor, who advises them that data was incomplete as to activity aboard Ulysses after the sub-orbital separated from the larger craft.

Origins

When asked what the "purpose" of Halflings and Dwarves was on the Ulysses, L-One explains that both races originated on another planet and their ancestors were travelling on the Ulysses but were forced to land due to damage, and that in the significant amount of time required to repair the ship their memory of these origins was lost.

When asked about the "purpose" of other races (such as Kul'theras, an elf) L-One advises that the other sentient life forms present appear to exist to pass on genetic material.

We Can't Stop Here, This Is Terrifying Nuclear Abyss Country

They direct L-One to get Munt (who appears to have become the pilot by default) to land the sub-orbital. L-One suggests landing elsewhere, showing footage of a glassy and scorched wasteland, massive chasm below the ship etc. They tell him to plot a course south until it's safe.

Kul'theras excuses himself, stating that he's going to see to a call of nature.

Tharin Longview suggests that the ship is more his than others, as he appears to be the Captain by birthright.

The Hand of Kali suggests going to Temple of Thor in Madrill to inform them that they saw Tristopher.

Landra suggests trying to retrace Maggot Man's steps to find out what else he's done.

The issue of whether they will remain together as a group comes up. Tharin and Landra have just agreed that they can get along with one another when L-One interrupts.

L-One:"Alert Captain! Lifeform designation Elf is defecating in aft storage locker. Should I vent into atmosphere?"

Tharin: "No. Rescinds all control. He is now a guest on the ship."

Tharin uses Prestidigitation to clean out the storage locker Kul'theras used and and asks what the elf plans to do now. Kul'theras advises he'll go back to not being hunted. Until whereabouts of Maggot Man are discerned he will stay with them (taking his share of this treasure when he leaves). The Hand of Kali advises that similarly she will go on her own way when she is no longer compelled to keep their company.

Kul'theras mentions "With the profits from the sale of this ship we could buy airships of our own.", and Tharin states in no uncertain terms that he does not wish to sell the ship. When this is questioned, Tharin is insistent.

It is decided that they will travel towards [[[Madrill]]. L-One advises that he suggests to remove local fauna from ship before takeoff. It turns out while they were discussing their next course of action the ship has been landed, and since then have been discovered by three Ice Yai who are clambering on and around the ship.

The Bigger They Are=

THERE IS A BIG FIGHT. ICE YAI ARE HARD. THE Hand of Kali almost dies.

Notably, towards the end of the combat Landra intimidate screams the following while she fires her rifle:

"I did not. Spend weeks on end being chased by shadows, fight off a horde of acid bleeding creatures, or watch a mountain explode to be killed out here in the middle of nowhere by some 2 bit muggers. So you will walk away now and we will pretend this did not happen."

This turns out to be rather intimidating, and buys some time for The Hunted to get themselves on-board.

Tharin Longview puts a rule in place that L-One will not land unless the landing is confirmed five separate times.

Keeping an eye out for the rail tracks that T.O.M.A.S. uses, they find them and have to decide whether to follow them towards Madrill or Osont, they choose Madrill and do not find T.O.M.A.S but hide the airship in a nearby wooded area and walk in to town.

He's Alive! Well, He WAS

The Hunted go to speak to a priest of Thor and have him cast Commune, questions and answers below:

Q: Is the Maggot Man Dead? A: Not entirely.

Q: Are we still being hunted by the Maggot Man? A: No.

Q: Is Magni Dead? A: He has earned his place.

Q: Is Tristopher Dead? A: He'll do well at Ragnorok.

Q: Can we repair the damage wrought today? A: No.

The priest then tells The Hunted about Kael Caulken, Tristopher's adopted son. He tells them that Kael will want to speak with them.
