  • Kul'theras suggests that Bingo Barr should pay compensation for putting their lives at risk; Bingo Barr does not react well to this, storming off to demand T.O.M.A.S. come to a stop (Hand of Kali changes her clothing to the uniform of a high ranking member of the Madrill militia while he is gone). When Bingo returns he tells The Hunted that they will disembark. Between Tharin's charming deference and HoK's story about being sent to foil an attack on the train, Bingo calms down enough to allow them to ride to Madrill, provided they stay as far away from him as possible in the rear-most passenger carriage.
  • The Hunted dutifully move to the rear carriage and HoK tells the others about the Tall Man mentioned by T.O.M.A.S. They also discuss the possibility of leaving the train early so as to avoid scrutiny of the Madrill authorities, given the fabrication about being on official business.
  • Eventually a wearing Bingo Barr makes his way down the carriage, advising that T.O.M.A.S has told him that the creature they faced was not the first they had seen and that as he suspected it was likely after them. He tells them he understands why they lied to him and will carry them to Madrill if they wish, though he and T.O.M.A.S agree that it might be prudent to disembark earlier and make their way into Madrill by another route. There are currently only two stops accessible to the public on this line and so the station at Madrill seems and obvious place for an ambush. The Hunted agree to him dropping them off about half a day (of normal travel) from the city.
  • On the road to Madrill, the party are passing through a wooded area when they come across a group of spiders on and around a fallen tree on the roadside. They engage the spiders and kill them all readily, then Magni smashes the fallen tree and they find the skeletal remains of a traveler. His equipment is rotten and rusted, with the exception of his backpack which appears to be filthy but otherwise untouched by the elements. Casting [Magic on the bag reveals an aura of conjuration, so Magni puts a few items into the bag and attempts to retrieve them as per his of Holding but it does not appear to function that way. They resolve to have it identified properly in Madrill.

Madrill

  • Once inside the city Magni asks a guard for directions to "finger-wagglers" and as he has this discussion Landra notices a small child grabbing a coin from his purse and disappearing into a hole in a fence. Magni makes short work of the fence as the guard looks on bemused, and The Hunted pursue the child, HoK quickly capturing her in a net. The group of men in the alley apologizes and one of their number explains that the child seems to think they are organized criminals and keeps trying to "prove herself". Magni threatens to feed the mewling child to Bjorn if there is a repeat performance and hands her over the the guardsman. HoK requests a moment with the child and whispers a message in her ear before letting her go.
  • Landra is accosted in the street by a man who refers to himself as Gunner, and claims that her rifle must be stolen, attracting the attention of a small squad of the city guard. Gunner is standing with a group of 5 other well-equipped mercenaries, who take an interest in his diatribe. He eventually challenges the "elf-bitch" to a duel for the property. Landra is unsure of the protocol regarding duels in Madrill but detects a permissive nod in her direction from the sergeant of the guard and accepts. Despite Gunner attempting to deny her the advantage of range her rifle might afford (as well as two separate misfires), Landra guns him down, taking his Pistol and associated gear but leaving the rest of his equipment at the behest of his erstwhile companions. They express no ill-will towards her, more of a mild distaste, and one comments that it was inevitable that he would come to his end this way. The impression is that he was not well-loved.
