Events

The Hunted are escorted to the Courthouse by Craust Nysodra and his men, where they meet magistrate Sever Oeaga Treandra. They are ordered to pay 1900GP (100 per life taken) which will be passed on to the families of the deceased. Initially The Hunted balk at the idea but Tharin and Landra argue for paying and Tharin pays most of the amount himself. Loose notes below:

L: I believe that what happened out there was an uncessary massacre and a professional failure.

Tharin is inclined to agree.

M: We've got to defend ourselves.

L: You blocked them in.

Tharin volunteers to pay the majority of it as he feels responsible.

L: I would still insist on paying an appropriate share.

H: While I have enough money to pay for the lives that I have ended, I feel that this is incredibly degrading of the notion of death. And so if it is your decision to go through with this I will pay and go on, however if anyone wishes to stand against this I will stand with them.

K: I will pay for the one I killed. We should at least be able to count on the guard to look after us.

Kul'theras gets confused that the widows and orphans don't become their property after they pay 100GP.

L: Magni, why is it that you opted to kill the men?

Magni doesn't quite understand what Landra is getting at.

L: Were you defending yourself or looking for a good fight?

M: Do they have to be different?

L: Let's put it this way. It was not a good fight.

The Hunted run into Rittain Bonald and have a drink with him at The Copper Whistle, explaining the situation with Jegan Kayal and why they will seek him out again. The sergeant tells them it is a good thing they told him this and that he will try to help them if he can.

The Hunted arrange new lodgings at The Copper Whistle, with Tharin also arranging for Veshin, the barkeep of The Bloated Hag to take messages for them there if anyone asks for Arthur and uses the passphrase "It's a wonderful kind of day". He ensures compliance with a 50GP bribe.

The Hunted pass the time until nightfall with some shopping for equipment, crafting of ammunition and temple attendence. Once darkness descends they make their way back to the warehouse district. Soon enough they come across Jegan Kayal as well as some kind of incorporeal undead.
