Session 8 2013-07-28

We rejoin The Hunted combating Jegan Kayal, the Shadowdancer has disappeared from their sight. Suddenly a mostly empty glass bottle comes tumbling through the air from the north, shattering on the ground as Magni catches sight of the Fetchling and alerts the others.

As Jegan succumbs to the brutal assault that The Hunted can bring to bear, the Shadow who attacked from within the roof earlier floats through the wall of a warehouse and attempts to grab Tharin. At the same time Jegan grins a psychotic grin as another version of himself comes charging out of the shadows to attack Ider, instantly disabling the beast. It becomes apparent that this is the real Fetchling, the other being some kind of illusion. The Hunted turn on him and quickly take him apart, Magni expertly clobbering him with the flat of his blade so as to take him prisoner and question him. Unfortunately his rapier appears to have other plans, and begins screaming "You fail!", ignoring the suddenly panicked protests of the Shadowdancer it roars "Too late!]] and disintegrates him.

Magni picks up the rapier and it identifies itself as "The Devourer" between threats and insults. It lies to him about its knowledge of Jegan Kayal's master. The party also retrieves a distinctive key from the remains.

The Hunted decide to take it to a temple in the hopes of getting it identified and hopefully selling it. Magni insists on the Temple of Thor being the first place they try.

Temple of Thor

They meet Tristopher Caulken, an expert on magic items, who quickly identifies the weapons qualities. He enquires as to what price the church might pay for the weapon while The Hunted go through the rest of the items found on Jegan Kayal. He eventually returns to offer 65,000GP for The Devourer, and they accept. Rick Gage (a specialist in resisting the will of intelligent magic items) comes to collect it and has an intense reaction.

Tristopher Caulken agrees to try to question the sword if possible about the previous owner's employer, his movements etc, and will ask for Arthur at The Bloated Hag if anything comes up.

Moldana talks Thor with Tharin but he is left unimpressed when she mentions the slaughter of Ice Giants. Magni is eager to make her acquaintance, and does.

It is suggested that they find a safe place for keeping such a large sum of money.
