After The Swearing Montage

They decide to head back to town with Ismark's body but Sardalis insists that he must know more about what lies in the building which they presume to be Argynvost's tomb.

Pavel argues against it as he thinks it likely that the revenants would be displeased by intefering with the tomb of their dragon god-king. Sardalis feels he must know what is inside so as not to be surprised when they return.

They break a window in the kitchen and Sardalis and Lekki climb down a rope to the graveyard, and Sardalis sneaks to the tomb doors which are white marble with Argynvostholt carved into them.

Inside the crypt he finds four empty raised sections and writing in draconic on the far wall (which he cannot read, so he copies them down as best he can.

He doesn't do a great job of this having rolled a 7, but it seems legible to him.

On The Road Again

They load the most solid cot with Ismark's body and Lekki & Sardalis carry it while Pavel scouts ahead.

As they head down the road away from Argynvostholt they see a group of 7 or 8 people who appear to be commoners, travelling towards them with a covered cart of what would appear to be crates and barrels. There are a couple of children with them. The vibe was that of refugees rather than traders.

Pavel overhears them talking quietly with one of the children asking "How much further to Krezk?".

As they approach Vallaki Lekki questions whether the guards will be concerned about them bringing in a dead body. After a quick discussion as to whether there might be a particular reason for that they decide there's not reason for concern.

Turns out the guards recognise Ismark as a "Traitor to Strahd" and seems quite interested in finding the family of the traitor also.

Pavel heads to the Bluewater Inn to let Ireena know what happened to Ismark and bring her to the church of the Morning Lord. The others head straight there with the body.

The Church of the Morning Lord

When Sardalis and Lekki arrive at the church they are met by cultists who interrogate them as to the nature of their business at the church, which Lekki responds to with "To make a deposit" indicating the corpse under the sheet on the cot, and this satisfies them sufficiently to gain them entrance.

On entering the church they come to Father Donovich helping to prepare many bodies. The old priest is grieved to hear that Ismark died. He tells them that he will tell Ireena. Sardalis advises that Pavel is likely talking with her as they speak, and Donovich advises that this is unlikely as Ireena is now staying at the church.

The Bluewater Inn

Pavel arrives at the inn only to find that it is boarded up with Strahd's seal painted on several surfaces. Without missing a beat he continues on towards the church, silently swearing to himself as he does.

On his way there he sees posters up stating

"Friends of Strahd, Join the fight and make Barovia great again.

Anyone who is direct opposition to our cause is to be brought to a member of the Town Guard for processing.

Rewards will be given to those brought alive."

Donovich Lays Down the Exposition

Father Donovich explains that the Bluewater Inn was raided based on some unknown informant. Ireena came to the church before that occurred.

When Pavel asks if they can do anything to help Father Donovich asks them if they could check the situation in Kresk as there is an abbey of Saint Markovia there.

They take a moment to consider their options. Sardalis suggests that they could consider checking out Kresk and the Vinyard also before they head on to Castle Ravenloft. Pavel raises concerns taking too long to visit Strahd and they think they can get this done within a few days.

Lekki is staying at the church to get Father Donovich to teach them some rituals while the others go looking to divest themselves of surplus and pick up useful items. In particular improving their transport.

Wachter Wants You

A cultist introduces himself as Percy and the right hand man of Lady Wachter.

Lady Wachter has a job for them finding an unauthorised copy of Strahd's autobiography "The Tome of Strahd", presumed in the possession of the man who war running the travelling circus.

She also asks them if they've been to visit Strahd yet, and suggests that they should get a move on with that.

She tells them that Percy was the one who fingered the Malcovich family (who ran the Bluewater Inn) as traitors and that when they raided the place they found nothing but Ravens.

Lady Wachter also tells them that she is happy to have the inn opened up for them to sleep there while in town, and that she will grant them the honour of giving the inn a new name.

Arasek Stockyard

Sardalis sells the Onyx chest full of cheap gemstones along with the two sapphires he took from the dragon statue at [[Argynvostholt]] and the silvered dagger they have (as Sardalis plans to use the silvered shortsword no longer needed by Ismark if the need arises).

Onyx Chest full of gems: 550gp

Sapphires: 500gp each

Silvered dagger: 20gp

He gives 520gp to Pavel as a result and puts aside another 520gp to give to Lekki.

Pavel buys Studded Leather armor for himself (freeing up leather armor for Lekki) and a 50' length of Silk Rope to replace the rope Lekki left in Argynvostholt.

Studded Leather Armor: 45gp Hemp Rope: 10gp

At the church they give Lekki the money, armor and rope. They also inquire as to what the head priest has in the way of healing potions, and buy some heavily discounted Greater Potions of Healing for 100GP each.

Greater Potion of Healing does restores 4d4+4HP when quaffed.

Mirror Mirror... wait where did the mirror go?

They decide to head to the inn before investigating horse options, and find workmen still working on the beds. Sardalis alone notices that they all seem a little weirded out by Lekki (who has resumed their disguise as Delg).

They head inside and check Danika Martikov's room for the mirror containing Delg, not finding him. They quickly concoct a story that a "part of Delg's soul" is contained within the mirror and go asking about it.

They are introduced to the foreman (who may not be named Gerald) who is a bit freaked out to see someone very much resembling Delg standing in front of him. He confirms that yes they found the mirror, in fact part of the reason the Inn was raided was because Strahd knew about the mirror and wanted Delg. So now the foreman is very concerned that they will have let Strahd down by not sending all of Delg to him. The party reassure the foreman that they are going to visit him very soon. Apparently Delg is the "chosen candidate", though none of the party know what that means.
