[edit] Pressing Engagements

The group argues about whether they should go to Ravenloft or Krezk/Lake Bartok with the new information.

Sardalis explains to the others that they have suddenly realized that the need for horses is likely much diminished due to his figuring out the secrets to Leomund's Tiny Hut.

They stay the night so Sardalis can finalize his research into a few new thoughts he has had and will leave first thing in the morning.

[edit] New Day, New Plan

Sardalis mentions that he would like to investigate Bonegrinder on the way to Ravenloft in case the Hag is found there and to see if anything there can be found that might help.

They leave around dawn 06:00 with Pavel scouting ahead, Sardalis and Lekki travelling in that rough order.

Approximately 07:00 Pavel spots what looks to see an armed Barovian lying in wait as if to ambush, he informs Sardalis and Lekki who come up with a plan to use Invisibility.

As they are walking through they hear a bird call and all the Barovians come out of hiding to group around the Barovian who made the call. It becomes clear that they were training to ambush and are busily congratulating themselves on a successful drill. They assert that "No-one will suspect a thing if they come." Sardalis and Lekki both stop to listen in more, very interested in trying to figure out who "they" are.

Pavel meanwhile has proceeded as agreed and made a stack of rocks to indicate the stopping point.

The militia appear to be vigilantes against Strahd, and do mention "tyrants" who will "make Barovia great again" and they get a fairly clear understanding that it is they who are the likely targets.

Having reached the cairn of rock they fill in Pavel, then continue and take a break for some breakfast and a short rest which Lekki wants to recover expended energies.

[edit] Bonegrinder Revisited

Pavel sneaks up to the door and sees that the mill is certainly active, as they are sneaking towards the place Lekki kicks a rock which bangs off the tower and freezes.

Pavel notices [[Morgthana]] looking down at Lekki and then waving a delicious looking pastry and gesticulating for Lekki to come up.

Lekki asks if this is the place for delicious pastries. She responds positively and asks how many they want to buy. Lekki advises that they have acquired a tavern recently and could make a permanent relationship ongoing.

She advises she is going to need to be supplied sufficiently with children in order to keep the pastries coming and it is at this point that Lekki decides to hit her with a stick.

Pavel reacts super-quickly to this and Hexes her, missing with a slash of his rapier as she turns to bolt up the stairs. Lekki also fails to hit her and they both pursue her up the stairs with Sardalis racing up from the first floor behind them.

Pavel makes a wild slash which misses her as he gains the next floor, diving behind a small bureau to hide himself as she wheels around ready to face whoever comes.

Whoever comes proves to be Lekki who smashes at the Hag with their quarterstaff, an action not appreciated by [[Morgthana]]. Moving with supernatural speed Sardalis joins the fray, stabbing at her twice with his silvered dagger and connecting on the second swing.

Pavel, growing tired of his failure to hit, apparently steps things up a notch and impales one of her eyeballs

Critical hit for a total of 46 damage.
and which makes her shriek with pain and horror as Sardalis steps in to finish her off.

[[Morgthana]] has a scroll on her person and they also investigate the elixers labelled Mother's Milk (which resembles greenish mucous) and Laughter (which resembles a reddish tea) from the lower floor.

Sardalis opens the scroll which reads "Come one, come all to Jimmy Smiggins Magical Emporium of Magical Things for all your magical needs that you may be after but are wondering why you can't find in this shitty place".

[edit] Domestic Terrorism

They talk about whether they should destroy Bonegrinder or not, while arguing whether this could be used by someone. After Lekki makes a statement about liking arson Pavel freaks out and demands they explain themselves in light of the recent comments about being in jail several times.

This does not go well, with Lekki claiming an obligation to keep secrets of the organisation "The Light" which they work for and Pavel insisting that they are untrustworthy while they may make vague claims about doing things for the greater good.

This culminates in Lekki deciding to end the discussion by setting Bonegrinder ablaze. As they cast their Bonfire spell Pavel fails to understand what they are doing and flees the windmill, fearing the worst. Lekki & Sardalis follow at a more leisurely place, and while they are discussing the wisdom of the move Pavel disappears from sight and has to be reassured by Sardalis that Lekki was not in fact intending on attacking him.

An uneasy truce is declared, and the group move on towards Ravenloft.

[edit] Your Carriage Awaits

Just beyond the enormous gates which hang open near the fork in the road between Ravenloft to the east and Barovia to the south they find a large black carriage drawn by 2 black horses, and as the door of the carriage swings open they get the feeling they are expected to enter.
