Diamondgate viewed from above with added transparencies to better show buildings.

A coastal city often thought of as the capital of Vanar. Diamondgate is named for the massive, mostly transparent crystalline formations found in the area which the city was built to take advantage of; more specifically for the formation incorporated into the city walls to allow travel into the city. Though there are several other formations incorporated, the eponymous Diamond Gate is unique in that it has a wide, twisting tunnel running through it.

Two formations known as The Teeth are the largest by far, jutting out of the ground very close to the coastline, stretching out over the waves each at a similar angle. Over the years the inhabitants have formed a partly-enclosed harbour by building walls which rise up most of the way along these massive shafts. Though they would be intimidating enough in their own right, the true reason that Diamondgate is seldom assaulted from the sea is in the harnessing of the formations themselves (see Crystalline Formations of Diamondgate).

Becoming a permanent resident of Diamondgate has long been a difficult process designed to prevent over-crowding of the advantageous location it occupies. Visitors are welcome, but those who attempt to stay for long periods without the sponsorship of existing residents quickly find themselves the subject of scrutiny.
