Choo-choo-choose your own adventure

Isek's arm is putting out an evocation aura, his flesh flowing over it.

Dolls. This room is full of pretty little dolls with powder-white skin and auburn hair, some of them dressed beautifully, others plainly. Some of the dolls fill a long bookshelf, and others are arranged in neat rows on wall-mounted shelves. Still others are piled atop a bed and a heavy wooden chest. What’s most odd is that all of the dolls, apart from their clothing, look the same. They all look like Ireena Kolyana.

Unlocked chest contains wrinkled clothes and a non-magical shortsword.

Under the bed empty wine bottles with Wizard of Wines (Purple Grape Mash # 3). Each doll has a tag reading "Is no fun, is no blinsky."

Pavel divests Isek of the studded leather

The Bergermeister's Room

Sardalis finds that the desk in the Bergermeister's room contains 3 drawers with blank parchment, writing implements etc. He also finds a wage book showing that there are 12 guards on the payroll.

He finds a signet ring and 3 keys on the Bergermeister, a breastplate, rapier and silk tunic. Black Bronze Silver. Silver unlocks door where quiet nervous "Hello" came from.

Chained to back of this closet is Alan Lukovich, who advises that he was chained up here because he protested against the festivals.

After some awkward hugging Alan advises that of course he can help explain what has happened, beheads the Bergermeister and rushes down the back stairs with our heroes in pursuit. The reaction is very mixed, from fainting to slow applause.

As they move to the town square they gather a crowd of around 80 people following them, including a couple of guardsmen. They also notice the two "gentlemen" from the inn on their first night in town who are more observing than anything else. The stockades are broken down and people freed, and a macabre game of soccer with Bergermeister Vargas Vallakovich's head.

The people begin to call for a speech from Sardalis.

He obliges, and the crowd begins to get a bit too rowdy, so he tries to regain control rather than starting fires and taking the Bergermeisters widow.

Suddenly Bats

Thousands upon thousands of bats come swooping in, several red-eyed bats heading directly for Sardalis. Delg takes a couple of steps back and Pavel starts slinging Eldritch Blasts while Sardalis draws the silvered dagger and prepares himself for battle.

As the bats approach Sardalis hisses to the others that they're illusions but they are not convinced. One bat is not an illusion and has a small rolled parchment which it drops at Sardalis' feet. Delg scoops it up and offers it to Sardalis. Sardalis detects an aura of illusion, tells the others as much and reads it.

Flaming words appear as if being written onto the parchment by an unseen hand:

"There is no hope."

Sardalis fails a will save.

He clutches the edges of the paper tighter and tighter, stuttering out "We... we've made a terrible mistake". When asked what mistake he only repeats this louder.

Sardalis screams "We have to go! We have to go!" and bolts away in the general direction of the inn, Delg attempts to tackle him but Sardalis pushes through. Pavel keeps pace with him and tries to find out what they are running from or to.

Small but tightly-formed flock of ravens emerges over the rooftops almost as if they are trying to engage with the bats. At this same moment there is a white flash and all of the bats disappear.

Magic has been dispelled, but only Sardalis has any idea of this.

He explains that he was "cursed" and driven to run.

Pavel gives Alan Lukovich 3 copper pieces and suggests he goes to see Father Donovich. They then head north to the inn.

Home Sweet Home?

As they approach they see something entering the door but don't quite make it out. As they step in they see several ravens, several humanoids and one raven which is actively transitioning from a raven into a human.
