The Assassination

As may be seen above, the game did not begin in The Hunted's favor. Casters moving in, incapacitating Tharin and Kul'Theras, and Garrett himself having slit Magni's throat - the man then following up by demanding the immediate surrender of the party.

Landra is the first to respond to the demand, by trying to shoot the man's legs out from under him. This is extremely successful, a critical hit resulting in almost 160 points of damage, knocking the man over and almost killing him, before falling back to those trapped by the black tentacles.

Magni seizes the opportunity and slays Garret with his greatsword - but not before accidentally critting himself with the same weapon, leaving him low on health and still bleeding out. With Tharin and Kul'Theras unable to escape, it leaves the Hand to finish all but one of the sailors - the last one fleeing down the corridor ahead. One of the remaining clerics (still at full health and only one spell seen to have been cast) says "Enough! The Raiders are clearly finished - and while they move to positions, they do not attack.

Landra says to the unseen Wyrick "Now would be an excellent time to help" - but upon seeing that there was no feasible way of rescuing Kul'Theras and Tharin without contending with the tentacles herself, she instead put away her rifle, drawing a cure moderate wounds potion and remarking "There is no need for further fighting - all of us can walk away from this." before shouting "Do not attack the casters!"

Magni, upon hearing this (and after having healed himself with a potion) instead goes careening after the remaining pirate.

The Hand of Kali falls into a defensive position but does not move to attack, after which the caster with the tentacles dismisses them.
